Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell is an American chef television personality and former instructor of the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and her energised persona Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals clear, easy to learn techniques to the home cook in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has also worked at some of the top restaurants located in New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy and competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in the upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for culinary arts and food at an early age. Following her graduation with an English and Communications degree at Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her interest in the business of restaurant by enroling as a student at The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America was a great experience for me. I didn't have enough knowledge, couldn't achieve enough and couldn't push myself enough. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) and attended in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. The chef gained an understanding of Italian tradition and food while in Italy that has informed her cooking style. Burrell was on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which improves the lives of kids who face challenges. She is also an Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Ambassador where she promotes children with diabetes and awareness. In her capacity as a speaker, Burrell makes trips across the country to promote her love for food and her culinary career. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has often said that I am blessed to be able be able to share the passion I have in life with others.
